Caitlin Clark, the consensus 2023 national player of the year and presumptive 2024 player of the year, has been named to the USA Basketball women's basketball training camp roster. The announcement comes ahead of the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, where Clark hopes to represent her country.
"I'm thrilled to be invited to the USA Basketball training camp," Clark said in a statement. "It's an honor to represent my country and to be able to compete against the best players in the world."
Clark is the only college player on the 14-player training camp roster. She is joined by some of the top WNBA players, including Breanna Stewart, A'ja Wilson, and Candace Parker.
Clark's inclusion on the training camp roster is a testament to her exceptional talent and her potential to be a future star for Team USA. She is averaging 27.4 points, 8.1 rebounds, and 8.2 assists per game for Iowa this season, leading the Hawkeyes to a 29-3 record and a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament.
Clark is expected to be a key player for Team USA in the 2024 Olympics. She is a versatile scorer who can shoot from anywhere on the court and is also a gifted passer and rebounder. She will be looking to help Team USA win its seventh consecutive Olympic gold medal.
